The JWC of Litchfield Hills is a non-profit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501 C(3) charitable organization in the State of Connecticut. All donations are tax deductible.
Families in need are helped through community support during the
holiday season. Donations are raised from local businesses, and gifts
and/or food items are collected, wrapped, and distributed.
Various events are conducted, such as holiday caroling, reverse trick-or-treating, and park cleanups.
Past events have included collecting Box-Tops for Education, Earth Day awareness, and setting up public education forums at our schools.
This is our annual arts and crafts fair held on the "green" in downtown Litchfield. The event consists of over 100 juried artisans and crafters. This is our largest fundraiser for the year and requires support from all of our members. It is held on the second Saturday in June.
This committee covers all other fundraising events, such as pie/bake sales, tag sales, raffles, and Touch-a-Truck.
With our affiliation with Connecticut Junior Women, we support the "State Project," called Time for Life-which was organized to assist families of children diagnosed with cancer. Their services support families of children with cancer during the treatment and post-treatment phases. The State Project has a six-year commitment and will change in 2008.
